On 5th August 2026, our team of volunteers and staff from Home‑Start Epsom, Ewell & Banstead spent a truly joyful day at Hobbledown’s Charity Day, connecting with families, sharing our work, and celebrating the incredible community spirit that makes days like this so special.
From the moment we arrived, the Hobbledown team were delightful, friendly and welcoming, every staff member we met showed genuine enthusiasm for supporting local families. Their kindness set the tone for a day filled with smiles, conversations and meaningful moments.
Throughout the event, we had the pleasure of interacting with hundreds of families, answering questions, sharing stories, and offering a glimpse into the support Home‑Start provides across Epsom, Ewell, Banstead and Mole Valley North. One of the highlights was giving out our Home‑Start branded stickers, over 200 children proudly wore them as they explored the park, creating a lovely sense of connection and visibility.
A particularly touching moment came from a conversation with one of our service users who recognised us and stopped to chat. She shared how much she appreciated seeing Home‑Start represented at the event, and how meaningful our support had been to her family. Encounters like this remind us why we do what we do, and why partnerships like this matter.
Thanks to Hobbledown’s generosity, £1,432 was raised through ticket sales on the day and another £30 from donations. This incredible contribution will help us continue providing emotional and practical support to families who need us most. But beyond the fundraising, the day offered something just as valuable: real engagement with the community, and a chance to share our mission with families who may one day need our support or know someone who does.
Building our relationship with Hobbledown has been a joy, and we are deeply thankful for their ongoing partnership. Their commitment to supporting local families shines through everything they do, and we hope this wonderful collaboration continues for many years to come.
