Families are running on empty. The pandemic has been toughest on those already struggling. But we’ve also seen communities coming together. We want to keep that spirit of generosity alive by encouraging everyone to give a little love this Christmas and give their time, money and voice to support Home-Start.

This festive season is sure to be one like no other. Parenthood is challenging enough in normal times but the current pandemic has added additional layers of anxiety, uncertainty and isolation.

The Give a Little Love campaign, and amazing partnership from the John Lewis Partnership, aims to raise £5m for the work of Home-Start and FareShare through a nationwide effort to encourage communities and customers to embrace the Christmas spirit and give what they can.

Home-Starts across the country are there for families when they need us most. We have moved essential support services on-line to stay connected with families, providing much needed emotional support, delivering essential supplies and linking families into other community services such as their local Foodbanks.

We’ve also seen communities coming together. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support shown in our communities during the pandemic. But there is so much more to do. Help us to keep that spirit of generosity and encourage everyone to give a little love this Christmas.

Give a little Love

How to volunteer

If you can spare as little as an hour a week, you could help parents not just survive but thrive during this crisis and beyond.

As a Home-Start volunteer, you will be given training and support to be effective and make a real difference to families in your community.  You will also develop transferable skills which can support you in your life, whether that’s at home or at work.

By capturing the spirit of generosity in our communities we can make sure families get the support they need.

Watch all the John Lewis Give A Little Love films in one place

Home-Start is incredibly proud to share the exciting news that we are partnering with The John Lewis Partnership and food charity, FareShare, for a Christmas campaign like no other, for a year like no other.

Give A Little Love is a major campaign by the two retailers, which aims to make a lasting difference to some of those hit hardest during 2020.

As always, the most anticipated part of a John Lewis and Waitrose Christmas campaign is the Christmas advert and we are so excited to be a part of it.

There are three films in total – the full two minute advert, a 30 second charity advert, and a two minute story which explains why this is a campaign like no other for a year like no other.
